The rain is falling. We were reminded today why we are called the Muddy Angels. We had a great start, honoring our fallen by writing their names on the tarmac of our host fire station for a rest stop. It was a quiet time for riders as they read over the names. North Shore EMS hosted us for lunch. It was there the riders were greeted with towels as they were soaked. Everyone was in great spirits, as we ate lunch. Then it was back on the road to Eisenhower Park. We had a ceremony at the World Trade Center memorial in Long Island. It is a beautiful place. We recognized the family of one of our honorees. The family received his dog tags. Each rider has dog tags for the person they are riding for and for Lori Foster Mayfield. The riders made it to the hotel, dried off, and had dinner. Tomorrow is the ride into New York City. Our goal tomorrow is to not send anyone to the hospital. We had two riders crash today, but everyone is back safe. We covered 51 miles today.
