Have you ever gotten onto an airplane and were met at the door by a nice stewardess in a pressed uniform that helped you to your seat. Then, after you were comfortably at cruising altitude they offered you FREE cocktails, fed you a four course meal with real silverware, offered you a warm towel after dinner and brought you a after dinner drink, all while you watched one of twelve movies that were available. Then nine hours (and one Ambien) later I arrived in Frankfurt, Germany on Lufthansa airlines. All for $500 round trip from my home state of Colorado! Come on you say! Really?
This is Wayne Zygowicz, JEMS
Editorial Board member, I have arrived in Fulda, Germany a few days before the start of RETTmobile 2009
, one of Europe’s largest fire-rescue-EMS safety symposiums and trade fairs. I’m only one of 22 US delegates, all guests of the EMS Safety Foundation
, to attend the conference and I’ll be reporting on the safety summit for you via JEMS Connect
. Not only will I be bringing you news and photos from RETTmobile over the next week, I’ll be sharing some of the sights of Germany with you.
I’ve checked into the Maritim Hotel am Schlossgarten Fulda and caught up on a few hours of sleep and I’m ready to go. So while the rest of the delegates make their way to Germany for the start of the conference, here are some of the sights of Germany and picturesque Fulda. It’s pretty quiet now but soon 22,000 people, from all over the world, will descend on the tiny City of Fulda for RETTmobile 2009. I hope you join me and the other delegates as we discover how safety services are provided around the world. The conference starts May 13, 2009
