An E.I.D. Person can make a difference.

Every 1st responder agency needs an E.I.D. Person. This is someone who only photographs or video's an emergency incident. E.I.D. = Emergency Incident Documentation.

With more and more times where emergency service personnel are drawn into legal situations, knowing that what you did was preserved digitally, this gives 1st Responders peace of mind. My wife and I provided E.I.D. services for three partnering 1st Responder Agencies. What we provided has been used in… Continue

Teach a Medic to Fish

If you're a fishing nut (like my pops), you're going to be disappointed with this blog post because it has nothing to do with catching opakapaka.

Before anyone tells me these aren't opakapaka (aka, crimson snapper or Hawaiian pink snapper), let me say that I know. But this shoal of red snappers in the Red Sea is pretty cool, right? (istockphoto.com)

We've all heard the Chinese proverb, "Give a man a fish and you feed him… Continue

Anyone in the same boat? What should I do?!?!?!?!?

Tough decisions are abound these days since the end of my active duty miltary career will soon come to an end in April 2010. Although I am an Logisitics officer in the Navy and could get a great paying job in the civilian sector, since I have started my EMS education by working on my EMT certification I have not been able to think about doing anything except persuing a career in EMS.

The major problem is that by choosing the EMS track I am effectively choosing to take a 60% pay cut… Continue

What's With Schertz EMS Plan?

Posted by David DeKunder on (mysanantonio.com). – The Schertz EMS is going forward with a plan that would allow patients who use their service to pay less — or nothing at all — when they are taken to the hospital.

All eight cities in the Schertz EMS service area have approved the organization's membership plan, which would give families the option of purchasing a yearly membership in order to cover or reduce any out-of-pocket expenses for any medically necessary EMS… Continue

Another Police Officer LODD

Another police officer's life was taken here in Penn Hills, a suburb of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. This occurred as a result of a domestic incident. Such a senseless act! Such a senseless loss of life! What is wrong with society? How did we get to this point where we as a human race have no respect for one another? No respect for the law? No respect for those who are sworn to protect us each and everyday? Where are we heading? Who will protect us when the offenders of the laws of the land… Continue

Just some random thoughts of a random mind

I believe that we as EMS professional have to have ADD or some form of it cause we are not happy in normal jobs I love my job because it is ever changing I love the crazy car accident and the birth of a baby now don't misunderstand me I don't like the misfortune of others. I do however love the way that every day and every call is different and that we have to adapt and overcome all kinds of crazy situations. I find myself a lot less stressed over the small stuff and even some of the bigger… Continue
