Chase the Clouds Away

What a great day!  We toured through New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  We went through Washington's Crossing.  The heat is on.  Second Alarmers hosted us for lunch.  Right now we are in Pottstown, PA awaiting the riders.  They are going to be tired.  The hills were a wake up for us today.  We did a ceremony in Princeton, NJ.  It was very nice.  We were fortunate to have the Director of the New Jersey Office of EMS at the ceremony.  We picked up the Pennsylvania contingent today.  We are thinking…

5 a.m. in Princeton

What a day! Everyone is so pumped from riding through New York City. FDNY EMS was so kind to us.  Check out our Facebook sites.  The World Trade Center memorials were breathtaking.  I did a sketching of my friend Rob Lenior's name.  We meet up with our Pennsylvannia riders today.  Rain could be in our future.  Our routine in the morning is to pack our bags, eat, get our bicycles ready and cruise.  We have a line of duty death memorial service this morning here in Princeton.  Keep praying and…

IV Fluid Resuscitation

IV Fluid Resuscitation

The human body is composed of different fluid compartments and each compartment is important in regards to fluid resuscitation; however, each compartment must work in cohesion with the other.

Our bodies are made up of mostly water; and water is the key source of life. However, if the water in our bodies is not distributed correctly it can have…

Wringing Out

The rain is falling.  We were reminded today why we are called the Muddy Angels.  We had a great start, honoring our fallen by writing their names on the tarmac of our host fire station for a rest stop.  It was a quiet time for riders as they read over the names.  North Shore EMS hosted us for lunch.  It was there the riders were greeted with towels as they were soaked.  Everyone was in great spirits, as we ate lunch.  Then it was back on the road to Eisenhower Park.  We had a ceremony at…

Day One in the bag

Warwick Rhode Island - What a day.  Boston EMS rocks!  Thank you for such a great send off!  We are thankful to the command staff, the Captain, and Tony for everything.  We are so thankful for all the host rest stops.  Everyone looked great in their jerseys, and man did they pedal.  We are thankful for all of our support personnel, and our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters pedaling from Paintsville, Kentucky.  Leaving Boston was a sad time, as we remembered (41)…

Moving into position

Members of the National EMS Memorial Bicycle Ride are moving into position.  Wayne Reisner and I have been driving the Budget rental truck from Virginia to Boston since 0700.  We have an hour to go.  Our folks are in Virginia for the Kentucky leg and Boston for the Boston leg.  Folks are fellowshipping, putting bicycles together that had to be shipped. etc.  Tomorrow, we put the final touches on logistics, including safety pins to hold rider numbers on jerseys. While we are happy to be on…

Ther Art and Science of Teaching

Did you know that as nurses we perform over 300 million peripheral IV's in America every year?  This is a lot of IV starts especially if you think about how many people exist in America. That is nearly one IV for every American.
