So this month was my first in my 'new career' as a self employed paramedic. I officially retired at the age of 50 on the 31st March.

Since then I have worked two shifts with the ambulance service in Cornwall, England as an Emergency Care Practitioner, taught on a community responder course and a first aid course and had some time in Hampshire as a Rapid Response Car Unit Paramedic (5 shifts).

A couple of cardiac arrests, one murder, a few COPD patients,…

"Ambulance Chaser"

We all know some one who says they are going to write a book about Life in EMS, I my friends am no exception. Here is just a taste of the adventures:

Care Free

The state of emergency medical services, or any medical service for that matter, is no care free business. But yet much of what we provide ends up being free. Hospitals

around the country lose tens of thousands of dollars a month, often

through the emergency department. EMS services routinely treat and

transport “non paying patients”, and the already huge cost of health

care rises because of it.…

The Seven Dollar Dent

Today I was out and about town. This morning I took my car to the mechanic for some passed due maintenance (Thanks Chronicles of EMS)
