Just Another Statistic
Friday, December 19th, shortly after lunch...I started having severe chest pain, radiating down my left arm, and up into my jaw. I had been dealing with this for several months, and had been to my cardiologist about a month previous for a stress test, which came back normal. My personal physician had prescribed Nitroglycerin, and I had found that it broke the "attack" in a matter of seconds. The Pattullo Bridge caught fire and now we have only 2 bridges to take us from Surrey/Langley/etc... to Vancouver and area. It's been a nightmare. The worst part is that the Royal Columbian Hospital is one of the trauma centers for head injuries and that bridge was vital to transfer people. It may mean a delay of 20-30 minutes or more; really cuts into the golden hour.
At least there may be a silver lining. The original repair time was estimated to be at least 4 weeks but apparently they found a section of bridge that had been sitting around (What are the odds? No, really, how weird is that?) and now the bridge may reopen in 2 weeks. Yay!
