Dextrocardia - pre-hospital treatment and recognition

Dextrocardia is a condition where the heart is located on the right side of the body, as opposed to the left. It is a result of a birth-defect found in 1 out of every 100 people. The defect typically causes no symptoms and for the most part, causes no problems for the individual. Diagnosis is done with either a chest x-ray or 12-lead ECG. Knowing that your patient has this condition can alleviate a lot of headaches both in the pre-hospital setting and in the ER.
