I agree with Greg Friese. Using MCI format on multiple patient incidents can be diasterous. The amount of patients does not alway mean MCI. Jurisdictional resources should be the a key factor in mitagating the event.

fine if your state has a trauma unit. we have LEARN in the State of La to help us because we do not have a level 1 center in our area or close so we call learn and they send use to Hospital that can handle what we have. also this keeps us from hav...

As with all guidelines, the Field Triage Guidelines need to be updated. Just like CDC revises immunization guidelines, we anticipate we'll be updating these guidelines in a few years. Or even sooner if there's compelling evidence we need to change...

I agree that the nomenclature should more closely follow industry standards and federal terminology.

I am looking forward to the webcast. I was working on an article about the guidelines today. One misconception I think that exists is that triage is most often associated with multiple patient incidents. Thus I have read things associating guidel...

I was personally very impressed with the product, it established a clear cut algorithm without a lot of the "hysterics of the bad one events" being based predominantly on physiologic status (though MOI qualifiers were not clearly explained as cons...

Dr. Hunt, I understand the history, but is that what really matters right now? I don't disagree with the concept of sending patients to the most appropriate facility, regardless of whether the incident generated one patient or two hundred patients...

Got an Opinion about CDC’s Field Triage Guidelines?

As with all guidelines, the Field Triage Guidelines need to be updated. Just like CDC revises immunization guidelines, we anticipate we'll be updating these guidelines in a few years. Or even sooner if there's compelling evidence we need to change them in the best interest of our patients.

So, I would like to also hear your reactions—positive, neutral, or negative—to the actual criteria. How does it, or will it, impact what you do everyday?… Continue

Why is CDC Putting Out New Field Triage Guidelines?

...So why is CDC putting out new field triage guidelines? As someone who has worked in the emergency care field for over twenty years, I know first-hand that the decisions made at the scene of an injury are vital to saving lives. That’s why as CDC’s Director of Injury Response, I feel so strongly about making sure you have access to information and tools to help you continue to do that great work.

It has been a long process, but worth the effort. To start, CDC partnered with the American Colleg… Continue

Hi everyone, I have been working a Fly Car now for 2 years. I also like the concept. In fact, the hospital that I am working in (Bangkok, Thailand) is the only hospital base ambulance that operate this type of vehicle with multi-tasks.

If you work in a "fly car" or "first responder" this is the place for you. Say hello, get to know each other, share experiences good or bad. A good place to vent or just learn what we all do in our regions.

Very interestingly, how do you apply them (ice packs) on the patient ?
