~It Only Takes A Moment~
You have never known what it is to live… when you have failed at the following:
You failed to listen, and spoke, missing a lesson that could have changed your, or another’s, course of life.
You failed to smile, when that is all that was needed to enhance one’s world at that moment in time.
You failed to empathize with another; you failed a critical component of life.
You failed to hold a hand, that longed for touch and has not been held; you failed to touch a soul.
You failed to Cry because you were too strong; you actually proved Weak and Inhumane.
You failed to treat someone with Dignity, as they are different from you; you were a Coward.
You failed to treat someone with Compassion and Respect; you reflected your Bias towards a person.
You failed to Laugh when a person needed to be Recognized for their Humor and Wit; you ignored their need to decrease their fear… Just for a moment, as brief as it may be, You failed in allowing a person to Forget their Suffering.
You became condescending; you proved your prejudice.
You failed to embrace the Joy of Another, therefore, robbing them, of the Pureness of their Happiness.
You failed to step inside the Shoes of Another; you Convicted them of their Right to be “Who they Are in the Shoes in which They have Walked“”:you failed to Feel what someone has Seen.
You failed , in One Moment, to honor the Autonomy of another’s Wishes, you showed your selfishness and righteousness.
You failed to Teach, therefore, failing to Learn…For in that One Moment, the Question you have been longing to have Answered, was lost.
You failed to love a fellow human being; you failed at one of life’s most fundamental principles.
It takes but one moment in time, ONE, to make a lifelong difference to another human being.
In One Moment, you could be all that you NEVER WISHED or WANTED to be….
If you fail to take One Moment to do what is Needed and Longed for, in regards to the Treatment and Needs of Another person, that NEXT moment YOU could be the person Longing for what YOU failed to Provide…….
It only takes A Moment...To change a life, for Your life to Change....
Never falter, because when you do, you have failed to live….
Why thank you! I feel for you! We help cover Purdue University so I can relate to the drunken calls BIG TIME. Football tailgaters are a pretty rowdy bunch. The kids usually start drinking around 6AM on game days, the call it "the breakfast club". They all dress in costumes and stagger around. Pretty funny sometimes, I've brought in everything from the Pink Panther to Zoro.....!
Good Lawd...I can imagine w/ the super bowl goin on's...maybe it wont be to bad... thanks about the comment...we just never stop to think about that stuff to often till we've been impacted by such or after the call when we think...man we could've been killed...anyway nice meeting ya...hope ya have a safe & happy weekend...keep in touch
Absolutely! As you've correctly identified, personality has a lot to do with the way we represent ourselves and our profession. I'm sure your new colleagues will greatly benefit from yours, and if you can educate them a little as to the abilities of professional EMS providers along the way, then you'll have gone a long way towards advancing the profession and acting as an ambassador for the rest of us. Good luck!
Well I saw where they shut down the forum this morning. I didn't get anything from Web Chief. Like I've said before we are all type A's and he knows just enough to push each of our buttons. Just glad I didn't know him years ago before I mellowed. I'm going to ignore his posts whenever possible from now on. I think we will be OK as long as we don't let it get personal. That's Web Chiefs concern.
