"I have across the US training EMS LE and Fire in "Tactical Medicine" I think the the biggest challenge is the cities that contract 911 to Private EMS Companies. Private companies have specific policies in place that keep providers staged.…"

"The State will take a class even if in another state? Or is this related to funding of course expenses? Only about have of the TEMS providers in the country are armed and not all of them are sworn."

"The problem with Illinois is that in order to take a TEMS class you have to already be sworn. In order to be sworn as a TEMS member one must first have completed a course prior to application. Catch 22. "

I came across the article and I just wanted to share it with everyone please read it and do not let complacency get the best of us especial when lives are in our charge.Link to the Article.

Tactical Combat Casualty Care

This course had been written in blood. The tools gained fron this course could really prevent the loss of life with 3 interventions. There are many tactical medic courses but this one is the only one out side of the military that is reconized by the CoTCCC and it is the only one that offers a internationally reconized certification in Tactical Medicine. What are your thoughts?

Thanks, Paul! I am really looking forward to getting back into the field and did my NREMT Skills Testing with Shirley Schriber (also with Vanguard) back in August. Fun times! Being a Combat Medic and Flight Medic were the coolest jobs I ever had... don't tell the Army, but I would have paid them to do those jobs. Don't know if the old, beat up body is still up for the challenge of combat medicine anymore, but we'll just have to see. Look forward to running into you at the Texas EMS Conference!
