- I am a paramedic for Health-Pro Ambulance in Carbon Hill Ohio,we provide BLS/ALS medical transport from facility to facility, responses to medical facilities and private callers. We also provide 911 services in Ward Twp. of Hocking County and parts of Perry County.
We mainly transport patents who need more specialized care then what local hospitals and clinics are able to provide.

get a real job
Me and my girl friend was shopping at Wal-Mart and ran into a uncle of hers. They started talking and her uncle asked me what I did for a living. Of course I replied back I am a Paramedic... to my surprise he looked at me and said " so when are you gonna get a real job?"
I am sure that I had a puzzled look on my face for he went on to say " I worked in EMS for years but I left it for a job that really paid the bills.... 9 dollars an hour just doesn't cut it"

Cory T. Spankowski, NREMT-P, CCP said… I like your entry on the comment about getting "a real job". I've been asked that a few times in my career. My response? "Already have one." It just doesn't pay to get into it with anyone. Believe me, when they call at 2am, and they need EMS, their thoughts will change quickly.

I agree it is extremely easy to live EMS every second but yes I also agree other hobbies are important I definitely do not want to become burnt out . I am a basic from MI have not worked the road yet but I work in an assisted living facility and am currently being evaluated for hire by a few different EMS companies. i considering training her for search and rescue because like me she's small, smart, and strong. One day we were playing fetch and the ball rolled under the bed to the middle (I have a good sized bed) and she crawled all the way underneath the bed and all the way out having retrieved the ball. I figured if I could get her to go into more confined spaces she might be of some good use down the road. I have already taught her the commmand "search" whenever I want her to go into a confined space and she's doing pretty well with it.
