And that's probably the best way to look at it--not as something that will take away direct laryngoscopy, but an admission that not every patient is easily intubated under DL. Anesthesiologists have kept a cart behind them for years with half a do...

I got a sample of the device and used it on our intubation manikins. So easy to use but effective. I never missed the trachea once out of multiple attempts. A couple of personnel from My agency tried it and had never seen the divice before. With ju...

So we are going to attempt blind insertions of endotracheal tubes? When there is a number of people arguing that the research data shows paramedics shouldnt even be intubating when they can see the ETT pass the cords? I would be very hesitant to b...

What would the success rate be with the ET tube going through the device? I saw something like this at a cadaver lab many moons ago and was impressed by the ease of use but not so much the blind insertion of an ET tube...

There's something funky going on with their website. When I accessed the SALT page via Google it gave me a website error. So I went to MDI's home page and accessed the SALT page via the link on the home page and it now loads for me.

I'm actually in the process of starting a cadaveric study on the device, but it seems they stop making it? because the web site no longer works. Has any one used it recently?

I think treatment for the seizure activity would have been appropriate with physician approval/consult. Would haved used caution administering Benzos with borderline BP (small incriments). Good call.

I don't expect a randomized, controlled study. But, it'd be nice if they could at least provide the results of a prospective evaluation that outlines the success rate, ease of use, etc. before they start exclaiming that this chunk of plastic "...a...

Sure... and I expect double blind cross over studies on each manufacture's take on NRBs, NCs, cardboard splints, ECG electrodes, etc. Something like this isn't introducing a new treatment, per say, but a new way to preform a treatment. Either it w...

I don't think any device such as this should be given ANY thought UNTIL some sort of independent trial on humans has been performed and the results published. I absolutely loath the fact that devices like this can be marketed without any trial hav...

Is that Dr.Bledsoe from UMC, Las Vegas?

Update on my question. I communicated with Dr. Bledsoe yesterday. He states that clinical trials begin soon. I am looking forward to the results.

I just watched the video. Very impressive. Does anyone know a system that is using this device? Does anyone know of any clinical trials or research that has been done on this device?

I work with the guy that created this. It really is a simple, but highly effective device. You should get one once they start selling and see for yourself. I know they tested it in several cadaver labs during the development of it. James

Ben, yes you can get an adequate face seal with facial hair. Properly trimmed goatees, even those Village People-esque handlebar mustaches, no problem there. However, I believe this issue is for a FULL BEARD. Now if you think you really can get a ...
