I have always had the sight to help as a young boy of 17 I joined St John Ambulance, (a well known volunteer organisation around the world) There I have given some 27yrs broken service to them and the community. At 18 I was a volunteer FireFighter with the Noble Park Fire Brigade. So both of these took up most of my time as a youth. Boring so far??
At 25 I joined the Ambulance Service Victoria (Peninsula) and the rest is history.
This work became to involved and I gave the FireFighting away, but there will aways be a Light there for every FireFighter no matter where. 9/11 was a good example of where FireFighters past and present felt the sadness and related to the senseless of it it all.

Good day Leo......John here..........I too collect patches......im on my way to work, 0300 to 1700 and i have a 275 mile commute, i will have time next week to get some of those patches to you if that is acceptable..........i started driving an ambulance in 1976 at the age of 16, i had a california drivers license, an american heart association "standard first aid card", and a desire to help people, have fun, impress the chicks, and earn that $2.75 per hour....i had a great partner back then who had been an honorably discharged army medic who I learned alot from (aside from the bi-polar moments) anyway, im off and look forward to conversing with u more.......till later, John
