As someone else said, given the graphic nature of what is on TV, in the movies and in video games I don't think this is too graphic. That said, I have to respectfully disagree with my brothers and sisters here who think that this video will have a...

According to the state-wide protocols these are the situations when EMS can stop responding when someone other than EMS personnel cancels the response. "When law enforcement or fire department personnel on scene indicate that no incident or patie...

The issue with regard to the blood draws is lot more simple to explain. Because of the need to be able to document exactly who drew the blood and from what patient many hospitals do not want the liability that could occur when pre-hospital samples...

I recently ran into a similar situation with a paramedic situation I took. There had been several newspaper articles about the company so I knew there were some issues. When I interviewed for the job I came straight out and asked about the problem...

John,

Thank you for your response and advice. Understand that these incidents I refer to were over thirty years ago and I have not been an active EMT-B since. Also know that I was asked to help from my fellow department members as they all knew my abilities and experience in the military and they had no regard to the legality issues. They did not just sit aside helplessly, we did this as a team. I tried to only guide the paramedics on scene but they wanted more help.

I understand the liability, this is why I posted the question, "does anyone have any suggestions on how to let go of my past training and conditioning", so far only Ben has touched on this. Everyone else is caught up in the legal or professional aspects and do not seem to be aware of my question.

It is as if I went to a public eatery and asked for soup while not wearing cloths, everyone complains about the nudity but no one heard my request for the soup.

I would want to recertify only to be eligable in time to test for EMT then go to college to study for paramedic. I am no longer surrounded with people who know my abilities so it will be no problem to do the job at the level required.

I just wanted to better myself and grow as a person at the ripe old age of 61. I was forced to go to war (the draft), now I feel it is my turn and my time to have what was taken from me,... my chance to go to college.

I have the impression that all who read this posting believe that I am wanting to operate outside of my certification and I do not. One person asked about my life experiences and I honestly answered, now everyone is rightfully concerned about behaviour that is not being practiced.

I apologize for all the discomfort I have caused by reaching out to people I felt would understand.

Respectfully,

Fritz

Joe, do you have some mango chutney to go with those red herrings? There are many reasons to combine fire and EMS, and many good reasons to not combine fire and law enforcement. Track record of most fire/law enforcement combination departments -...

So the entire stance that you've taken that fire/EMS saves money on support costs are really a lie then?

Most of the places that tried combination fire/police services were small towns or mid-sized cities. Most of those places didn't have lots of administrative staff to begin with. The fire/LEO combinations mostly ended up just being police departme...

See... doc... we've hashed this out before. EMS and fire support services are somehow magically different when compared police support services. Completely different 'skills' needed to sign checks, do background checks (I'll admit that police chec...
