Thank you for your response and advice. Understand that these incidents I refer to were over thirty years ago and I have not been an active EMT-B since. Also know that I was asked to help from my fellow department members as they all knew my abilities and experience in the military and they had no regard to the legality issues. They did not just sit aside helplessly, we did this as a team. I tried to only guide the paramedics on scene but they wanted more help.

I understand the liability, this is why I posted the question, "does anyone have any suggestions on how to let go of my past training and conditioning", so far only Ben has touched on this. Everyone else is caught up in the legal or professional aspects and do not seem to be aware of my question.

It is as if I went to a public eatery and asked for soup while not wearing cloths, everyone complains about the nudity but no one heard my request for the soup.

I would want to recertify only to be eligable in time to test for EMT then go to college to study for paramedic. I am no longer surrounded with people who know my abilities so it will be no problem to do the job at the level required.

I just wanted to better myself and grow as a person at the ripe old age of 61. I was forced to go to war (the draft), now I feel it is my turn and my time to have what was taken from me,... my chance to go to college.

I have the impression that all who read this posting believe that I am wanting to operate outside of my certification and I do not. One person asked about my life experiences and I honestly answered, now everyone is rightfully concerned about behaviour that is not being practiced.

I apologize for all the discomfort I have caused by reaching out to people I felt would understand.
