Well, you can't send a closer unit to another services jurisdiction and not the primary service. A dual response makes the most logical sense. However, some services are rivals and their immature and childish attitudes don't allow the best care fo...

I'm married to my first love, Roxanne, Afterall !!! We have 5 grown sons and 9 wonderful grandkids. (And now ya know why they call me Papa John) We enjoy family gatherings, especially at our river lot at the Boat Club. We all enjoy boating, jet skiing and other outdoor sports with the family. 2 of our sons (JJ & Mike) are Paramedic Supervisors and are in this group. They are 3rd generation EMS.

Personally I enjoy teaching, writing and managing our family businesses. Before I leave this world and join my old friend Kline DeWire in EMS heaven, I want to write a book about my lifetime career in EMS and all the great people I've met along the way. It may not be on the best sellers list but will be a good read for anyone with a passion for EMS. With a little luck, I may get JJ and Mike to co-author.

Be Careful Out There and don't EVER let anyone tell you that patient care is just a business. Real patient care comes from the heart and the mind !!!

NEW Regulation For EMS from FTC - "RED FLAG RULE"

Hot News for EMS !!!
I was just notified by our EMS attorneys (Page, Wolfberg & Wirth) that the Federal Trade Commission is now going to require ambulance services to comply with FTC's new regulations regarding identity theft prevention. The Deadline for compliance is May1, 2009. The "official" name for this is the "Red Flag Rule".

To ALL EMS Personnel - See AEMS Group Page (Advocates for EMS)

I just added a comment to the AEMS (Advocates for EMS) group under the Discussion "Your 2009 EMS Wish List". AEMS is a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. that has a lobbying group. AEMS is our unified voice to our federal elected officials. Please visit the AEMS group page and comment at http://connect.jems.com/group/advocatesforems

Hi John! Happy New Year! Yes, we just added a cost analysis that is both a survey and a tool for figuring out the cost to provide ambulance service. I will announce it's availability and request that each service fill in the information. This is the survey that I mentioned when Don and I presented at the EMS council meeting. I will add the information to the discussion group on Tuesday also. I am going to be out of the office on Monday, which is why I am waiting until Tuesday so that I am here....just in case. Thanks! Hope all is well with you.

first of all, if you write a book, I'm buying it. no doubt. ESPECIALLY if your sons co-author. Mike and JJ shaped my ALS career and I guess I have you to thank for it.

second, i was wondering if, in your years of buying equipment for EMS applications, you've come across any information about motorized stretchers and any statistics about safety and usefulness. it's just a curiosity to me.

thanks in advance, and keep up the strong work. :)
