Morning Lyndon
The course was the low land option. DOC gave them permission to use the costal walking track, this took out the big hill that every body disliked. I found the course a bit Muddy but what can you do when that much rains falls.
Over all well organized and a enjoyable day, well worth doing.
I am doing the 40 km this year , more climbing than the 72. Still deciding if i will tackle it on the single speed or the full suspension.

Hey Andrew,

I haven't done the Colville Connection yet. I'm usually still recovering from the Karapoti Classic when it's on. It's certainly on my 'to do' list though. What did you think of the course? It seems to be one of those events that you either love or hate. Your time seems pretty good for that distance too. I'm trying to scam my way onto the Great New Zealand Trek for later this year. I would have loved to have done all stages, but don't have the budget (perhaps I need a career change). This year I have offered to volunteer for the event in the hope that I will get to cycle it for free.

Was taken at the end stages of Colville Connection 2009. First time doing the 72km event. 5hrs30 of ride/walk time. It was a great day.

Gidday Andrew,

I was just poking around the site & spotted your MTB picture. Where was it taken? I work for Wairarapa Ambulance Service & MTB also, although not as often as I would like. I have Karapoti coming up fast though so I REALLY need to get motivated!! I'm collecting EMS patches from all over the world to display on the wall of our station in Masterton. Would you be interested in trading patches with me? If so, drop me a line.

Life Is Short - Pedal Hard.

Cheers,
Lyndon.

Whic prerequisites are waved? There's a difference between not having to take Intro to Computers and Applications and not taking the Anatomy and Physiology sequence. Do you feel that the lack of prerequisite courses to be a contributor to the high…

We do, and the results are mixed. We hire candiates and send them to the paramedic program to a community college where I teach part time. They do not have to have BLS experience first. They attend the core paramedic classes with students who go on…

Depends on what brand of "better" you're looking for. Sending people to school seems to make them more ingrained into your system, but I think each medic owning his/her own education invests people in the profession a bit more (which, of course, is…

Just the web component. Lost a lot of stuff I typed that way. :) Having a real program with later uploading would probably have helped.
