"Really the only reason we have electronic charting is because the state of NJ realized that they were not collecting any data regarding EMS outside of the hospitals. So they agreed to pay for it provided they have access to our records on it. So far…"

No, we aren't using electronic documentation down here yet. Just trusty old pen and paper. There is currently a working group investigating implementing it on a national basis though and our service is represented on the group. Due to setup costs etc I doubt we will see them come in for us within the next 18 months though. Because we are run by our local hospital we are government funded &, as usual, the money is spread pretty thin. Would be interested to find out what you think of the electronic format once you get back to work though. I can see the rationale for them, but wonder how much clumsier they will be until everyone is used to them. But hey, if it saves a tree it has to be a good thing huh?
I'm about to go get ready for night shift (& hopefully watch our football team play Paraguay for the second round at 0200 hours). I will get something mailed away to you in next two days.
Good luck with your recovery,
Lyndon.

Busted leg? Hope you're not in plaster then if things hotting up! That happen on or off the job? Just thinking about it, almost half my patients in the past fortnight have been leg fractures, including an awesome looking femur that had a spiral fracture from slipping down a couple of stairs! Shame she was almost 400 pounds! I think your news reporters are understating things regarding the football. It has always been seen as a second string sport down here, even though a huge percentage of the population plays it. Everyone is pretty stoked with the boys so far and kind of stunned that they have done so well. We haven't even qualified for the world cup since the mid 80s and now have a (slim) chance of reaching the next round. Even our 2 Texan imports are getting into it. Just a pity that the games are shown live at 0200 hours down here.
I will hopefully drop something in the post for you in the next few days while I am working night shifts.

Cheers,
Lyndon.

Hello Adam,

Welcome to the JEMS family!

I am an EMT-I way down in New Zealand & am collecting EMS patches from around the world to display on the wall of our ambulance station. Currently I have around 300 items and hope to get them up on the wall soon. Please let me know if you are interested in trading with me. I would love to add your patch to our collection.

Regards,
Lyndon.
