I would be interested in pursuing a state EMS association.  Funny enough, one of my colleagues in Oregon has the same idea.  Read his thoughts and share what you think:
NAEMT is creating a new position called a "State Advocacy Coordinator" which will report to a Regional Coordinator.  Somewhat like what they do with PHTLS, etc.  The notice, along with the job description, etc, will be going out soon to all NAEMT members for those interested.  It's a volunteer position.  I will also be sending it out to all OEMSA members.  As I just got off the phone with NAEMT about the position, I was looking at the list of OEMSA members and considering who might be interested, has a strong base knowledge of EMS, has transport experience, good relations with state EMS offices, etc. Your name was included in a list of about 10 people I could think of.  The choice is not mine to make.  It will be made by NAEMT and the Regional Coordinators.  So, my list doesn't really matter.   However, you being well respected and from what I understand in talking to others, open-minded, might  be interested... as I am sure you have lot's of free time on your hands.  Don't we all.
So, to make a long story short.  When your e-mail popped up during my chat with NAEMT, I just thought I would ask your status.
Maybe you and I should meet for coffee and talk about setting up a Washington State EMS Association or merging Oregon's with a Washington group and creating a Northwest EMS Association?  Maybe we could find enough people interested in two states to actually have an organization?
I would also be interested in talking to you about pushing for state and NAEMT membership during your AMLS and other classes.  With the $15 discount/year for NAEMT members in NAEMT classes (PHTLS, AMLS, etc.), it seems like no-brainer, but people are still slow to join.

Is there any interest in forming a Washington EMS Association?
