Thank you so much Scott, that was very kind.  I know absolutely nothing about transferring my credentials to Virginia since my only experience in EMS thus far has been through school and my internship in Indiana.  I'm hoping to get affiliated with a local service rather quickly and perhaps they can point me in the right direction.  Otherwise, I just may be contacting OEMS! Thanks again and take care!

Andrea, welcome to Virginia.  I hope you enjoy your new home in Virginia and I am confident you will quickly find your niche in our EMS system.  Please let OEMS know if you have any questions about transferring your credentials to Virginia (

Sounds like you have also discovered the regional EMS council in your area.  For a listing of all regional council offices go to

Best of luck to you and your family.

Hello, I'm Andrea.  New to Virginia and new to EMS!  I graduated and got my NREMT-P in January and moved to a small town south of Lynchburg in February.  Hoping to get on with a local crew ASAP and start my career in EMS.

Hi all.  I belong to a rural fire department in central Va. between Lynchburg and Danville.  The name of the dept. is Renan Volunteer Fire Department.  I retired from the Navy after 22 years and am now living the quiet life.  Bad thing is I still long for a little stress so I joined the fire department and got my EMT cert.

It's hard to believe that I just finished my third week here and it has flown by. . .
Toured about half of the Northern Neck the first week and then spent the day on the Peninsula the third week - so far so good. Ant thanks to those taking the time welcome me. It is a shift in geography, and HUMIDITY (the one thing no one warned me about)
Looking forward to meeting folks at Symposium. . .
