Hello everyone,

My agency is looking to expand our services to include a critical care transport team- transporting critical patients, patients on vents, critical drips, high risk, etc. A few members are active paramedics/RN's and would be willing to be involved in advanced training and protocols, etc. I just have no idea where to start. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them. Thank you in advance!

Is this the right spot to post? Anyway, apologies if it's not. I'm an EMT-B that worked SCTU and facility emergencies in the city, and 911 backup to Philadelphia's surrounding towns when they needed help. I've recently moved to CNY, got reciprocity, and the state sent me my card (should be here tomorrow).

Anyone have any ideas or leads on a paid 911 gig in the CNY area? I'm located in Syracuse and realistically willing to drive up to 45min to an hour to get to work. I don't know anyone here that's involved in EMS, and quite frankly short of knockin on doors (which I'll be doing Tuesday)... I don't really know where to begin.

hello group, nys and nremt paramedic. used to work in buffalo and surrounding suburbs for two diff ems agencies and volunteered for a third outside of Niagara Falls. I am currntly active duty army and deployed to Iraq. I love ems and miss working on the ambulance

Steve, when I run an arrest I am sitting in the captians seat directing all of the patient care. I may not have done "hands on" patient care, but am in charge of the call. Much like the MD in the ED directs all the care of the patient, but the hands on is done by the nursing staff. If I have the extra hands to have a "recording emt" that is great and I do review all the documentation before turning it in, but the more challenging the call, I do like to step back and see "the big picture" and am still in charge.

In NYS the highest and level trained provider is in charge of both patient care and is responsible for documentation. If you are concerned about what is documented on the call you should be reviewing your BLS partners PCR, period. If you are in charge you have a right know what is being documented.

INHO, if a person is sitting in the captain seat, never talks to the patient, doesn't do any patient contact, doesn't auscultate lung sounds, put on a splint, etc.... just writes, then they were not "in charge". The third slot (to the right of driver) should be 'recording emt'...
I feel that the person who does the hands on assessment and dictates the treatment should be in charge.

Hello all, former NYC Paramedic with Lenox Hill Hospital who was contracted by the city for 911 jobs. Loved it, miss it, will someday get back to it. In NYC...the person "teching" the call writes the PCR.
