hello alli am currently a basic medic with st johns ambulance service in australia i would like for advise from private paramedics on what qualifications i would be needing to obtain here before i move to the usa and work for a private company and if any one can send me a copy of the basic emt and paramedic manual i will be very greatful here is my postal details

hello,im an ER nurse and as well ambulance service crew an extension of A&E department,we dont have any official paramedic in our hospital but if any pre-hospital case, me and my team will be the one handle it,with the collaboration MRS and other private party...at the moment im interested in pre-hospital management...willing to seek medic school in the states...any suggestion will be my honored....do guide me thank you so much

I work in a hospital based EMS system. The ambulance service is an extension of our A&E department where ambulance dispatch, command and control is within the A&E departmnent, ambulances are stationed within the hospital premises and ambulance crews (ambulance aides / drivers) are supported by nurses from the A&E department when required. This ensures that only advanced practitioners who have been constantly practicing under supervision are responding to out-of-hospital emergencies. We feel that this system works well enough, however, it still needs to be enhanced by further training specific to the prehospital setting, which in our case is still missing.

I work in a fire based EMS system, it makes me sick to see the poor sometimes lethal care given by fire departments. I am passionate about patient care and believe that as EMS providers we are an extension of our local Hospital ED's. However fire sees EMS only as a great way to get huge budgets and waste precious time and resources. Case in point in our system an ambulance is only dispatched after a fire apparatus is on scene, yes they will send a ladder truck to a chest pain call, as the patients heart infarcts waiting on a way to get to the hospital. It is very frustrating to see our base hospitals either not impliment or recind advancements in pre-hospital care because fire depts use them in new and interesting ways to kill people. For example RSI, has only been available to us for a short while however its about to be pulled to many patients with disasterous crics, or paralytics without hypnotics and sedation. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find some stats on how much more effective hospital based EMS is. Our state is in a financial crisis and is trying to cut costs, it would be a good time to suggest moving away from this wastful harmful system to one that is all about pt outcome and not budgets and ego.

I WORK AT A HOSPITA EMORY EASTSIDE MEDICAL I SNELLVILLE GA,I DO ALL THE EMERGCY CALLS AND OVER HEAD PAGES,LET THE EMTS IN THE AMBULANCE ENTRANCE,I HELP THE EMT'S AND FIRE FIGHTERS A LOT,WHAT A VERY GOOD BUNCH OF GUYS AND GIRLS,THEY ARE AWESOME

I work in two hospital-based. One where I am primary care giver in the ER. The other I work more as an ER tech, however, I have can take a patient but the RN still has to sign off and do an "RN" assessment. Its the best of both worlds. I have worked in non-hospital based and much happier in an Hospital-based. Although I also vol. for my local FD. Which I also enjoy but, working in the 3rd party services wasn't a fun time. Limited protocals and not well back by the owners who are watching the bottom line vs whats good for patient care.

Hi All! I am about to enroll in a local (Orlando, FL) EMT program but was wondering if you can advise me on some of the better schools. I'm a newbie & clueless but want to start out right. Thanks! sylvia
