My most hysterical chief complaint in triage on CHRISTMAS DAY was "it hurts when I fart" ... and the woman was serious. I had to hide my face I was laughing so hard.

Aaron, miss working with you SOO much!

Hi all,
I had a great job last week that I felt compelled to share. The job was a three car nose-to-tail accident at approximately 30mph. The woman driving the last car managed to impact the vehicle in front of her with significant force to activate her airbags. Unfortunatley for her she was a bit on the short side and was therefore sitting close to the steering wheel. This meant that the airbag struck in right in the chest with reasonable force. When we arrived on scene her chief complaint was "whiplashed nipples"! Oh, did I mention she was blonde??? I guess that just shows stoopid is universal.

I got punk'd one time in the ER. A couple of the RN's and my medic buddies rigged a urine cup with a rubber band and a tongue depressor, and filled it with apple juice. They hand it to me asking me to "strain" it to see if there is a stone in it. I am asking myself "why?" and rather than look like I am shirking responsibility I take it into the dirty utility and pop the lid off. This little propeller gizmo they rigged (by twisting the tongue depressor around the rubber band), flipped the "pee" on me! Furious I storm out into a foray of laughter from the Docs to the janitor, and they clue me in to the prank. I then passed the "straining the sample" task on to the next shift, the reaction was priceless as he popped the lid off.

Chance, I've never said that firefighters are globally better at providing EMS. What I have said is that fire departments are not globally worse at providing EMS as is alleged here so often, and that there is no legitimate research that shows that...

The pneumonia doesn’t quite sit right with me. The ruptured bowel is good thought however it does not fit all the Signs and symptoms. I believe the distended belly is the result of Hepatomegaly a back up of blood into the liver from a pump problem...
