Hi guys. Moving down to Boynton Beach with my family here in January. I recently completed my paramedic here in Ohio. I have my NREMT-P card, ACLS, awaiting my PALS and ITLS cards.

I am waiting for my background check from Ohio to come back to forward my app to the state of Florida so I can take their exam. My question to whoever can answer it is, do I actually have to take the Florida exam, or is there a way around that? And if there is a way around, how so? Seems like a pain to have to basically retake another cognitive test...
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! Just moved to Pensacola from Raleigh, NC. I worked for a couple years down in Tampa for AMR but am currently looking to get a job with Escambia County EMS. Until I get my NREMT again I'm looking at getting a dispatch job at NAS Pensacola.

Hey Ron!

Yes I believe so! We just had a good number of EMT's that just finished Paramedic School Move up to the Paramedic Position. Now keep in mind the process to through is a little extensive about 1 month. They do a back ground and physical, written test, and skills exam, and drug testing Oh and interview process with EMS and the County HR dept.

Hey Patrick! I'm a Paramedic for Polk County EMS Florida. The starting rate is around $38,000 - $42,000 to start given experience and all. We are an EMS based County service. We are currently going under reconstruction with the County services. The County decided to merge the EMS system with FIRE. We have a Tactical medic team also with the Polk Co. Sheriff's office. I am currently developing an EMS bike team which should be coming up here within the next few weeks. Surrounding Counties are around the same Salaries give or take . Let me if you neeed any other questions answered . Raul

Hey guys hope all are well. I am looking into relocating into Florida around the Polk County area. I was wondering what the pay was like in the areas around Polk County and Polk county itself. Any help would be great.
Be safe

I know the program director at Valencia. She used to work here in Pinellas. They have a good program there.

Volunteer EMS is pretty much a dying breed in Florida. Plenty of volly fire left, but volunteer ambulance (or as they often call them up your way, rescue squads) are few and far between.

Start with EMT. There are still jobs available with many services. You can likely pick up at least some part time work once you finish school. However, most are looking for medics, so that should be your goal.

Thanks Raul. I live close to the college. There is also a vocational school around the corner from me across from the jail. Any suggestions on that one?
