Hi all! There is a new association in California representing EMS professionals. Even if you are not an EMD, EMR, EMT, AEMT or Paramedic in California, please "Like" this page to support us!  CAAEMT Facebook Page

The mission of the California Association of Emergency Medical Technicians is to serve the prehospital EMS care providers of California by presenting networking opportunities, offer continuing education, work with CAAEMT partners to give discounts on services and products, and represent its membership during discussions that will readily affect their practice and protocols.

and Jon, yes you got it right..... hahaha. And just for the record, I know of an ambulance service within an hr of where I live that is COMPLETELY volunteer with no incentives or compensation whatsoever. They are the true heroes!

Mmiz....... we are paid. When I first got involved in EMS in 95 we got "paid" .62/hr to be on call, and then "paid" $5/call. Now, we are "paid" a bit differently. Since we are hospital based, we have "911" call as well as "transport" call. (transport call being taking pts from our hosp to another hosp) For 911 call we are paid min. wage, and that is all. Transport call we are paid a small amount to be on call, and then compensated by the distance we travel while taking the pt elsewhere.
