My experience is the cost of the EZ-IO ansd B.I.G is similar, except that the success rate for the B.I.G is only about 50-70%, so you need to use two devices to one EZ-IO needle per pt. It is also been my experience that when people report an EZ-IO failure it is because they didn't forcefully flush the device before trying to infuse.

Both the EZIO and the BIG work equally well. I am not sure that one is actually quicker than the other, I think it is just more what you are used to. Cost though certainly favors the BIG.

One of my resource hospitals use the BIG for IO's. A large town in that system has pretty much put them to the test, and it sounds like 50/50 when it comes to like & dislike. As for me, I prefer the EZIO drill. Much quicker and less chance for error as far as I'm concerned.

Has anyone checked into the Bone Injection Gun (BIG) vs EZIO? Our medical director likes the BIG. I'm a fan of the EZIO.

doc, Well, half the point, anyway. The relative call volumes of law enforcement vs. EMS and fire seems to have been overlooked in your response. Those were factors then, and they're factors now. The police/fire combinations were foisted on the ...

The system must survive in order to demonstrate evidence that it is successful. If it can't survive, ergo, it is not successful.
