EMS Equipment Donations -- Our Aim

As with the majority of health care in the U.S. and Europe, a defining characteristic of EMS is waste. We use more than we need, and if we don't use it soon enough, it mysteriously expires. Unfortunately, the primary destination for all of our unused equipment and supplies is the local landfill. However, there are lots of people, communities, and organizations who could use those supplies, and there are plenty others who are willing to get them where they need to go.

And that's why we've started this group. We're hoping to create a "craigslist" of sorts, one that creates a place where people in EMS can get involved in helping others out.
This group is for your if you answer "yes" to any of the following questions:

-- Do you have equipment to donate?
(Have you recently discovered that your plastic IVs and ET Tubes tubes have expired? Do you have extra oxygen tanks or regulators lying around? Maybe you've received a grant for new equipment and now you've got some old EKG ECG monitors or AEDs, maybe even an ambulance...?)

-- Does your organization need equipment to donate?
(Are you involved with an NGO, or Medical medical mission, and you're looking for some used CPR Manikins manikins to train with?)

-- Do you have questions/answers for making these kinds of projects work?
(Maybe you've having trouble dealing with customs, or maybe you can help someone navigate customs. Perhaps you've got a question about a certain country, or maybe you know a lot about a certain country.)

This is the place where you can get help for yourself, so that you can help others. If you fit into any of those categories, or maybe you even if you fall in somewhere else, please use this group to let us know where you can help facilitate the transfer of used equipment or medications to others who can use them.

We are in need of a good, used cardiac monitor/defibrillator for our ALS truck. We service a previously unprotected, poor area of rural Pinal County, Arizona. There are many elderly who live here suffering from heart disease and diabetes. Please help us by donating a cardiac monitor you no longer need. Thank you so much!

We have recently begun operations as fire/EMS in rural Pinal County, AZ (March 15, 2012). Since we receive no tax money and are non-profit, we're relying on donations and subscriptions to keep afloat. The people in the area we serve were previously unprotected and many live back in canyons and mountainous areas. We could really use good, reliable radios and equipment for better communication out here. Thanks for any help you can give!

Dont forget your local Boy Scout Reservation Health Officers; most BSA Camps are more than 30 mins from outside responders, while the Health & Safety programs are usually rediculously under funded/equiped

Far from home... US Peace Corps in Morocco needs some help as well.  There are 4 other EMTs out here with me and we're trying to make some of these ambulances out here more than just vans.  The drivers are mostly untrained (and that's where we come in), but we could really use some trauma gear... backboards and collars would be great.

Thanks everyone.  Hope to see you Stateside in another year.
