The mission of the California Association of Emergency Medical Technicians is to serve the prehospital EMS care providers of California by presenting networking opportunities, offer continuing education, work with CAAEMT partners to give discounts on services and products, and represent its membership during discussions that will readily affect their practice and protocols.

Emergency is the one and only reason I became a paramedic. When I was eight years old and watched the show in awe for the first time, I just decided what my life was going to be for me as a grown up. I have been in EMS for 27 years now, 15 of them as a paramedic, and I have never regreted it for a moment. I love my job.

Roy and Johnny were my heroes and really nthe reason why I wanted to be a paramedic... but it was Dixie McCall that appealed to my other interests...

Met Randolph Mantooth on the set of Dallas years later when he was playing Victoria Principal's love interest. He was about as hip to talking about Emergency! as Larry Hagman was to talking about I Dream of Jeannie. Both would rather, at that point, forget where they came from... both might have been better served to remember that later when they both became has beens!

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, I want to join this group, but I'm not sure if I'm too old. I was looking at the front page of all your comments about how Johnny & Roy inspired you to get into EMS. I remember watching Johnny & Roy when they were on in prime time in our squad room, and critiquing them.

I'm still in full time EMS after all these years. I am the EMS coordinator of the largest health care system in Alaska and only fly a few ambulance missions just to keep my skills up.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause, and no, not all career EMS people drive fire trucks, with the ambulance on the side. Some of us HAVE made a real career out of EMS without ever driving a fire truck. lol.

This is pretty cool, we have a Captain in our department that wears a sweater like Capt. Stanely. So we jokingly call him Capt. Stanely. This was the bomb, I have some taped episodes which we all still watch. I wish that they would put it back on TV. I was in California and saw it on "Retro TV" channel out there along with Adam 12. Can't get enough!!!

I'd have to say that subconsciously Johnny & Roy played a part in my descision to become involved in EMS. I didn't watch it and say to myself "I wanna do that", but when I did get going, I thought "This is like being on 'ol 51". Of course, the first time I opened up a sodium bicarb syringe, I just had to pop the caps off "just like John".
I have seasons 1-5 & can't wait for#6.
