Well I stand corrected...there are programs that hold a candle to UMBC's CCEMTP program. I recently completed WI's Critical Care Paramedic course, and it was the toughest coursework I've taken in my 20 year career. Good didactic, and something that UMBC's program doesn't have...practical/lab sessions. I'm glad to have taken it, and recommend it to anyone who is looking to do the same. I would; however, strongly recommend that any medics contemplating taking this course have at least 5 years of solid service. This is not the course to take fresh out of medic school.

Hi Jim,

No, this does help me. My employer originally was going to send me to a UMBC course, but reconsidered and is now sending me to WI's version of it...the "CCTP" program. I'm not happy about this at all, and just wanted to see if there were any programs that could hold a candle to UMBC's, which I more or less knew the answer to already. Hook or crook, I'm taking the UMBC course AT UMBC next year! Thanks for the info!

Cory when i was looking into this a couple years ago everyone kept pushing me towards UMBC's program, I could not find any others out there that people would speak highly about. I took there program in Billings Montana and found it very good. Hopefully this helps probably not what you were looking for.

I would like to know if anyone has any experience with critical care programs OTHER than UMBC's CCEMT-P program, (dis)similarities between the two, etc.  I'd appreciate any commentary.
