Hi all! There is a new association in California representing EMS professionals. Even if you are not an EMD, EMR, EMT, AEMT or Paramedic in California, please "Like" this page to support us!  CAAEMT Facebook Page

The mission of the California Association of Emergency Medical Technicians is to serve the prehospital EMS care providers of California by presenting networking opportunities, offer continuing education, work with CAAEMT partners to give discounts on services and products, and represent its membership during discussions that will readily affect their practice and protocols.

Join us for the first annual EMS on the Hill Day!
May 3-4, Washington, D.C.

NAEMT invites you to join with EMS professionals throughout the nation to advocate for EMS as part of the EMS community’s first coordinated effort to visit congressional leaders and staff on Capitol Hill. This annual event will:
- Include representation from EMS organizations in all sectors of the EMS community.
- Provide a consistent message to Congress on the key issues affecting EMS and EMS practitioners.
- Encourage and promote broad participation within the EMS community.
May 3, 2010 (evening) — A pre-Hill Visit briefing will prepare participants for visiting their congressional leaders. All participants will receive Hill Visit Kits and appointment schedules.
May 4, 2010 (morning-afternoon) — Participants will visit the offices of congressional leaders to advocate for key EMS issues.
May 4, 2010 (evening) — NAEMT will host a reception for all EMS on the Hill Day participants, congressional leaders and staff, and federal agency staff.

Nice job, Kurt (and your team) - - - - - -

This week the Senate and House passed the final version of S. 1793, the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009. The legislation is now on its way to President Obama for signature.

Due in large part to Advocates for EMS, the first responder notification provision that was dropped in the 2006 law has been reinstated.

Nice job. Keep up the good work!

By joining you get regular updates on what is going on in Washington regarding EMS. You can also join our monthly call on the third Friday of the month where we often here from federal officials, get updates and share information. You can go on our website and send a letter to your members of Congress on legislation we are supporting.

I've been in EMS for over 20 years and I've always wished that I could become involved in a more political level. I hope that by joining this group I'll be able to contribute in some small way.

Please support adding EMS to the federal recovery plan. We ae here, providing a vital service that is not going to get provided if we are unable to do it for financial reasons.

We worked hard to get EMS included in the Health IT legislation which is seen as part of the stimulus plan. So far EMS is still in the language. Thanks for participating in this discussion. Kurt (AEMS President)
