We are noticing an increase in the use of K2, Spice, and other “herbal incense” in our county.  The calls usually include, but not limited to, tachycardia, N/V, HTN, and chest pain.  Does anyone else notice an increase in the use of these or similar items?  What are your treatments for these type patients?  Also, does anyone know of any good information out there on this?

I had one the other day actually. 18 y/o m complaining of tremors and N/V. He stated that he smoked it about 45 mins pta. I just gave supportive therapy: IV TKO, o2, 4mg zofran and cardiac monitor. Upon arrival to ED, the MD did some blood work and gave him a little ativan to relax him. I asked him about it, he just said supportive therapy is all you can do, the drug is out of the system fairly quickly. I have been trying to do research on this since this is the first time i have ever heard of it, and i haven't been able to find anything on it...
