High winds, heavy rain, surges, lighting, hail, sleet, snow -- how do you work in it? What safety tips do you keep in mind when you're on duty during bad weather?

Wear appropriate PPE when outside - helmet, turnouts, goggles.  Flying debris, branches, etc. can be pretty dangerous.


Stay out/away from moving water, unless you are equipped, trained, and part of a team that does swift-water rescue.

Down power lines can kill....including by electrifying pools of water.  Look before you walk!

Stay away from large trees when the wind is high.  There seems to be quite a few rescuers hurt/killed when trees fall on them.
